Warren was born in Lismore, moved to Newcastle then eventually Barrington, following a career in industrial arts teaching and then contract building before retiring in 2010.
In 1979 Warren decided to try his hand at painting which led to becoming the inaugural President of Gloucester Art Society. Warren had a significant layoff from art during his construction period and has only recently “Dusted off the Brushes”.
Recently he has attended workshops provided by signature Blue Mountain Artist John
Wilson – travelling to the MacDonnell Ranges for an intense plein air experience with John as well as a 10 day Masterclass in the Blue Mountains. Warren has recently joined John in the Tumut area for a gathering of other professional artists for a “paint out”.
His works are varied in subject and range from landscapes, with the inclusions of seascapes – streetscapes, harbour views, buildings and mountain vistas. The inclusion of pen and ink drawings add another scope to his representational work. Warren also produces wooden projects although this has been reduced of recent with him concentrating more on his painting. His solo exhibition at The Gloucester Gallery opens on October 12 and is on display for 4 weeks.
